Matthew Richardson was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in Dubuque, Iowa. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. While still in school, Matthew began his professional career singing twelve supporting and lead roles with the College Light Opera Company in Falmouth, Massachusetts. For the past two seasons Matthew was a studio artist with the Florentine Opera Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There he sang several principle and secondary roles including the Sailor in Dido and Aeneas, Il Grand Sacerdote in Idomeneo, Elder Gleaton in Susannah, and Pong in Turandot. He is also a featured artist on the Florentine’s Grammy® winning recordings of both Elmer Gantry and Rio de Sangre. Since moving to Seattle, Matthew has performed with the chorus of Seattle Opera and in comprimario roles with Tacoma Opera.
